Kaltag to Koyuk

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Oh wow - this is so fast. Pete arrived and left just as Joar arrived. Gps also showing Jessie R in UNK. Not sure whether Joar and Jessie are also blowing through.

It's a great way for me to get adn news. Can't see the normal stuff due to new regional rules - don't ask - it's definitely off topic! But I can still get the twitter feed. Yay!

If you keep clearing the ADN cookies, you can get endless articles. Alternatively, use Firefox and check the 'always use private browsing mode' in preferences. That'll dump the cookies every time you close a page.

Just watched the video of J resting outside of unk. It turns out the place they were resting was not old woman cabin, as I first thought. He plans to go all the way to Shak. And given that they still were 20 miles short of unk, I assume that means that Nic is planning to go all the way to the shelter cabin on the other side of Shak.

Joar said the trail was very bumpy from Kaltag to Tripod Flats, but after that it was a really nice trail.

He said since he was down on leaders, at one point he thought he might have to just slow down and settle just finishing. But the dogs have been going really well since then, so he's very happy

The distance between the mushers has changed slightly:

Nic 775 > 14 miles to >

Pete 761 >

Joar 759 >

Jessie 758

Nic is just about to arrive in Shak (2 miles), while Mitch is 5 miles from unk
