dropped dogs

awww, just watching the live feed, seeing the mushers and the vets doing chores.

I hate having to drop dogs and the dogs hate being left behind or dropped from their team.

Watched as a vet and musher stood chatting, checked a dog over and the musher then took the harness off the dog, a black and white dog in the team. the vet clipped a lead on the dog and it stood all 4 paws rooted to the spot and kept looking at their musher. the vet gently tugged the lead to go, the doggy said no.

he tried talking sweetly, the dog stood rooted and said nope! eventually the vet picked him up and walked off, the dog was looking over his shoulder at the team and musher... i know i am a big softy, but i nearly shed a tear, had a big lump in my thoat. Poor puppers getting dropped.

i know he'll be just fine and super excited to see his kennel mates back home but still, you'd always want all your dogs to finish on your team huh.

Me, too. Dogs are so loyal and devoted. We have to remember, though, that they're not "dropped dogs" now. They're "returned dogs".
