What’s happening with Nic Petit???

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Poor Nic. I just saw the video of him on Insider. Some people may not believe this but he yelled at his dog. I have 2 huskys that totally loose it if I raise my voice at them. The closer your relationship with your dogs the easier it is to hurt their feelings.
So he was my pick to win but I really would like Kaiser to win now. Time for new people.

It doesn't look good. I hope he doesn't wait too long before he call it a day and scratch. It's always sad to see mushers scratch, but this isn't fun either.

I guess he is thinking a few more hours and try again. If he can get them across and off the ice they might come back together on dryland again. Until then he is at their mercy u til they decide to move or he will run out of food and have to scratch. I wonder if anyone has left him some fodd?

Nic is going nowhere until his team decides it is time to get up and go.

I do feel a little bit bad for him, but-- REALLY???> we have seen this time and time again.

I'm excited for Pete, Joar and Jessie. The coastal Unk to Nome trip is so very special it nearly makes me cry, and I have no dog on the tug line.

( GO PETE. Your team nose that salt water smell means HOME.)

I don't think anyone is going on the Ice. There is no ice. The Tracker route has not been changed to reflect the new trail route around the shoreline.

Nic will not be the first to be hung out to dry at this cabin by their dogs.

Yeah, at 16 mph. He's a scratch. Too bad. I had him picked to win it this year. :( :( :(
