White Mountain - Safety - Nome and BOP

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. And Aliy is in Safety. GOALIYGO!

I wsjust about to post this exact thing. Guessing Matt has pulled over to let Paige through.

His kennel page were laughing about this- because he did the same thing to her on YQ - piped her in the final section. They said Paige would be returning the favor.

I am v impressed by Travis’ team. He cut rest back in Shak and I thought it a dangerous move (it was for many), yet he has been able to maintain his speed.

Hmmm, Paige is now showing stopped next to Matt - they haven’t moved since that previous snap nearly 1.5 hours ago. Hopefully nothing bad, but does give concern when Matt was moving so slowly and Paige travelling at 7.3 mph prior to stopping.

Maybe weather related? Their speeds are reversed now.

Appears that Aliy is in, looking at the Nome Cam.
Anyone following her tracker?

Yup, she arrived safe and well. Dogs looked great and she seemed in really good spirits. She said she loved it but it was challenging. Her feet have been wet for ten days so she thanked a PA in unk who gave her some first aid.

(Jessie also mentioned wet feet - for dogs. Said she had to send home two of her leaders because, suffering from terminally wet feet, they just got sore.

There was some footage of Lance on the trail, smearing ointment on - and he said the same thing "foot care was the name of the game ")

In other news, Mitch has climbed back into top ten, bumping Aaron another place.

Jeff is in, Buser is in (some hours ago). Jessie H and Lance are travelling together and are on the beach before Safety.

Sarah Stokey has.been resting on trail for almost seven hours, she stopped just before the ice crossing to Golovin. I guess she will go on when daylight is coming. On the ice towards Koyuk are the red lanterns.

Lance is on the way to Nome, about 35 miles out. Hope I get back to see him finish!

He's moving along at a smart clip, 8.4mph. He's nearing Safety so you have several hours flower. Good luck.
