2020 Start

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

This is what this year's tracker looks like.

Seemingly no way to sort the mushers by bib number - what you see is what you get - listed in "race order". Wish there was a "short version" without all the fluff.
I like the tracker flags with the names on, though - since you can see at a glance where ppl are, rather than have to cross check bib #s:

I like that too elsie, on the green flags their start # is , in very small print, in the circle next to their name.

I would like to see mile plus how many tenths of a mile on the green flag. Did that make any sense?

I'd like to see tenths of a mile somewhere. I do like that standings can be pulled up with one click from the tracker page and that the flag of resting teams is a different color than running teams. There is a lot of stuff there I haven't even begun to investigate yet.

Not all the resting teams' flags turn orange. But if you click on their flag it tells if they are resting or running. Right now Pete Kaiser's flag is green, but says he is resting at mile 110. I wonder why the glitch is happening?

I wonder if the orange is an indication of an update - like in the standings? Don't know - just wondering.

Or maybe it's an indication that there's been no update for a while . . . . who knows? Now I really want to know!

At the top of the page it says:

Orange row indicates change since last update
• indicates a correction to a previous stat
(r) indicates a rookie musher
* indicates a period that occurred during Daylight Savings

Is there anything like those current standings explanations on the GPS page? I keep looking but can't see anything like that.

It's a great feeling to see the orange on the current standings - wonderful memories of working in Comms to get the updates out asap and accurate. Just had to share . . . .
