2020 Start

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Ceremonial start coverage great. Reports of snow storm gathering.

Not sure if Jeff King's team out yet.

I missed the start due to family obligations, but got back in time to see Dallas and the Gal (if they ever said her name I missed it) interviewing a lot of the mushers at the end. That was worth the price right there! Jesse Holmes, Page, Waerner, Brent, and more! I think the best thing they've done in years!

Just in case you haven't found out yet, Jeff is recovering from surgery so not racing this year.

But his team is going to Nome with rookie musher Sean Underwood.

SPK start video. If there's one constant about Iditarod--you know, besides the constant unexpected--it's Aliy's spirit.

From ITC FB page:
If you can’t make it out, watch live on Iditarod.com, KTUU.com, KYSE TV, or KTUU Facebook.

Looks like you won't need Insider to see the start

Finally! This seems like such an obvious thing for hooking fans and reeling them in for the season. No brainer, if you ask me. But then, no one did! :P

Kale Casey just popped up live, interviewing mushers in the pre-race area. And it is DUMPING snow.

He says he lives 5 km away from the start and had a hard time getting out of his driveway there was so much snow on the roads.
