Karen Ramstead...not yet in to Safety

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Karen came to the sled dog trade show in New Hampshire two years ago. She gave a wonderful presentation and slide show. We spoke for a few minutes, one on one--ya gotta love these small-crowd events--and she autographed a copy of the Pretty Sled Dogs DVD for me. If you don't have it in your collection yet, get it. You won't be sorry.

Someone said so earlier, Dustmusher, but the pup in your avatar is adorable. Is it your dog?

Oooooops!!!! Thanks for the correction Dustbuster. Of course, the music on "The Pretty Sled Dogs Video" is by Kyf Brewster. I knew that, or at least should have. I like to attribute such "brain burps" to having an antique brain.

I agree 100% with my fellow Minnesotan Mith! I'm glad she's into Nome safely. She's a tough lady, always fun to watch and always a classy lady besides. I suggest a hot tub soak, a rubdown, and a nice glass (or two) of Bailey's Irish Cream for the sore back Karen! :D

Yeahhhhhhhhyyyyyyy Karen

It is always a personal journey, never a straight forward run-dog-run race.

You brought your team Home to Nome, gave Snicks her due and had parting memories, and collected yourself, in your own time.

It isn't your finishing time that makes you a legend, Karen. It is your dedication to your TEAM and to your LIFE'S WORK that sets you apart in my mind.
