This really stinks!!! Especially since PETA seems to be having a major effect on the bigwigs? Things are definitely changing everywhere right now...feels like a bad dream!

It sounds like it was maybe related to financial decisions, but I can't help but think they were getting nervous from the antics of that P crowd! Especially since it was such a corporate decision. Sounds like the local guy wasn't planning it & was more supportive of the race. Hopefully they will rethink that given their long standing tradition of supporting the race.

It's a shame they chose to make the announcement during the race while the world is focused on Iditarod. The timing makes it smack of a "deserting the sinking ship" kind of statement. Whether they influenced the decision or not, PETA will be pounding their chests and celebrating.
