Ophir > Cripple > Ruby on the river

Postby elsietee » Wed Mar 11, 2020 2:07 pm

Mileage:
Ophir: 352
Cripple: 425
Ruby: 495

Michelle's been going since 3:45 this morning, Paige only left 10 minutes behind her. Awk. They've both been travelling for 70 miles and are still 50 miles from Cripple. Since they didn't break up the McGrath > Cripple distance into two legs, does that mean They are aiming for three longer legs - skip Cripple, and 24 in Ruby?

And write as I was typing that, they both stopped together.

Brent (who rested 5 hours in Ophir) is 5 miles from them, after his 5 hours in Ophir. Brent was smart - even though he blew through Nik, he stopped on the trail (which was reportedly a slog) not long after there and rested, and let all the others go through ahead of him. So he has slightly longer miles on him than Lance, but more rest by a couple of hours. I think he's averaging 70 mile runs each leg.

Behind Brent by three miles is Lance - not sure what he's up to - it makes my head hurt to try and guess. He rested 3:50 in McGrath and 3:16 in Ophir, which means he can go all the way to Cripple in one go.

Mitch (on the same schedule as Paige and Michelle, but with 30 mins less rest in McGrath) has broken his run up and is resting just past Ophir - which makes me think he's aiming for Cripple.

Kelly M took 4:22 rest in McGrath (even less than Mitch) and is resting in the same location as him.

Elsie T, your the Grill! Thanks for all the work you put into this for us! Keep it up! Personally, I don't think any of these front runners will attempt to drive to Ruby to 24. There's always a group who sludge to the halfway tho, and I think this group will 24 in Cripple. But you never know...

I'm thinking Aaron B might have? Or Swingley? Trying to remember. I think someone did.

Perhaps Martin Buser? I think several has gone, but lately no one has really gone further than Iditarod and Cripple

First batch of 24 hours taken - mushers including Jessie Royer, Joar, Ryan REddington, Peter Kaiser and Matthew Failor on the move. Guess the great shake out is starting to unfold.

Nick Petit is resting at McGrath and standings show he's taken his 24.

Aliy is 17 running to Cripple and is 17 miles away. Not yet taken 24.

Top 5 are resting in Cripple:

Brent bib 44 arrived 21.54
Michelle bib 33 arrived 00.50
Lance bib 12 arrived 00.58
Paige bib 58 arrived 01.15
Mitch bib 27 arrived 1.19

If they are all taking 24s their leave order will be different - but maybe Brent and Michelle can leave quite close together - and even maybe with Paige?

My maths is rubbish - any help out here?
