White Mountain - Safety - Nome

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

And finally, Lance, arriving at the finish. Big hug from gf (wife?) and baby, followed by his small son.

"Have you been waiting long? I missed you buddy!"

Then he goes to pet his lead dogs and the small son jumps on his back and they roll around in the snow, with the lead dog licking their faces:

Tim Pappas:

Passed Lance when he stopped to change his socks in Safety, so he took advantage of the situation - and ran all the way here, looking over his shoulder the whole time.

Hopefully just a signal glitch, but at least it this point, it looks like Magnus missed the turn and continues along the Nome Council Road.

I think that run on the road is an official re-route of the trail down Front Street. The beach was too wet and punchy, so start the road run early, Just a couple of miles to go.
