2021 Iditarod Race

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

So is the course basically the south route to Iditarod, out and back?

Actually My sister K Swenson should be credited with this name change. She is down for the winter. :)

I'm curious how Jessie Royer, and any other Iditarod racer is going to get to Alaska. Any ideas?

I think, long as you are not coming from an international starting point, you'd be looking to get to AK with your team in plenty of time to do a 7 -10 day " quarantine", if that is even required. Jessie isn't coming from Norway :D

Perhaps that is just my own imagination. WTH do I know, I just live in a ski-town where out-of-state license plates outnumber Maine plates every day of the week and twice as many on weekends. No one is quarantining here.

Is the border between USA and Canada still closed? So you can't drive?

So I guess all teams should try to practice passings.. I mean, when the front runners turn around in Iditarod they will meet many teams front to front on the trail. But perhaps it isn't a big problem, they are used to passing teams anyway, but not 40

Wow. The Alaska Range, Happy River Steps, and the Dalzell Gorge--twice! Coming AND going? Whoa. Hoping for video coverage.

Thanks for the links, FDF. Good stuff.
