Sun Dogs

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Jimmy Buffet definately makes a NUMBER of appearances on my iPod - and I once owned a dog called 'Pirate at Forty'.

I finally saw this movie last night and I really enjoyed it. :) I look forward to seeing how Newton does in the '09 Yukon Quest (his goal).

I don't know if Karen does, but I sure do. "Some of it's magic, some of it's tragic, but I had a good life all the way." Who else writes songs like Jimmy? No one.

One of my favs: (well, and "Come Monday"-to which I had one of my first romantic liasons ;) )

I took off for a weekend last month
Just to try and recall the whole year
All of the faces and all of the places
Wonderin where they all disappeared
I didnt ponder the question too long
I was hungry and went out for a bite
Ran into a chum with a bottle of rum
And we wound up drinkin all night

Chorus:
Its these changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes
Nothing remains quite the same
With all of our running and all of our cunning
If we couldnt laugh we would all go insane

Reading departure signs in some big airport
Reminds me of the places Ive been
Visions of good times that brought so much pleasure
Makes me want to go back again
If it suddenly ended tomorrow
I could somehow adjust to the fall
Good times and riches and son of a bitches
Ive seen more than I can recall

Chorus:
These changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes
Nothing remains quite the same
Through all of the islands and all of the highlands
If we couldnt laugh we would all go insane

I think about paris when Im high on red wine
I wish I could jump on a plane
So many nights I just dream of the ocean
God I wish I was sailin again
Oh, yesterdays over my shoulder
So I cant look back for too long
Theres just too much to see waiting in front of me
And I know that I just cant go wrong

Chorus:
With these changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes
Nothing remains quite the same
With all of my running and all of my cunning
If I couldnt laugh I just would go insane
If we couldnt laugh we just would go insane
If we werent all crazy we would go insane

Tangles, Before I moved to Fl. the only song, of Jimmy's, I heard on the radio was Margaritaville. I got so tired of hearing that song! :o Then, I became friends with a Fl. raised woman, she introduced me to the endless supply of Jimmy Buffet songs. He must have written hundreds, and still writing. They are not all the "Island" style of sound. I've heard country, blues, jazzy sounds in his music. They make my heart feel good :D

If you ever get to see his show in person, it's a lot of fun. Unfortunately for me, the shows have gotten very pricey. :(

But the die hards show up in grass skirts, coconut bras, Hawaiian shirtsand hats that look like parrot heads ( that's what your Iditarod handlers are going to wear along with the Hawaiian shirts   )

Good one, Flower. One of my favorites for sure. I just sat here and "sang along with Jimmy"...in my head of course. I couldn't carry a tune in a bucket, as they say!

T, pick up a couple of JB CDs. You'll be singing along in no time. 8-)
