McGrath-Ophir-Iditarod

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

The later part of the race will be so unknown.

Worried about Larry D. He's already 24ed and has been parked in McGrath for quite awhile. He hurt his wrist earlier in the race and I wonder if it's giving him more problems after he tried to power through. :?

He's actually out of McGrath (and actually Ophir as of 1am this morning) - it's likely he forgot to swap his tracker when he switched sleds. Or the tracker just isn't working. The Insider crew is aware of it and working to get him a new tracker.

She had no choice - she had to have it hold together until she could pick up her spare sled in McGrath. And hold it did. :)

Amazingly talented people running this race.

Cody at Don's Cabin, headed to ID:

Didn't come with a team he planned to race hard, so pleased with how they're doing. He's pushing them a bit, just to see what they can do, but being careful not to overdo it.

He put 3,000 of training on the dogs this season, training with Paige's dogs. He has Sable in lead - this is her 15th 1000 mile race - her only non-finishes were when he dropped out. She's 10 yrs old and has been running since she was 2. Good to have her experience - she doesn't hesitate. Puts her up front when there's something tricky, otherwise she runs in the team.

Like him, they aren't thrilled to get going again, but once they get going, they're all business.
