Thanks, Elsie! I had no idea where either is. I did see the Happy River and assumed the steps were on the descent down to the river, but nothing more than that.

All discombobulated this morning due to the clocks going forwards (no one told me, so that was confusing) and the power being out here (now on my generator).

Dallas (10.4 mph) is moving away from a slightly slower Aaron (7 mph) - four miles between those two now.

Brent is up and moving steadily at 8.5 mph

Wade and Ryan have now been resting over two hours (at the foot of the Happy Steps), so I'm assuming they're going to take a "real" break, rather than a fake 2 hour one, while Mille popped past them about 20 mins ago, moving into 4th place. She has such good speed, I'd expect her to stay ahead of them now (wow! What a great race she has had!).

Richie has also been stopped for a couple of hours just past RP, so I have my eye on his tracker. He's been passed by Michelle (who is now just five miles from Wade/Ryan), so will be on them in 40 mins or so - will she pass or will they get going?), Joar (who's now six miles ahead of Richie), and just now by Nic (who stopped briefly just past Richie, but is on the move again).

Tracker snap of the Top Ten from 10:10 am Sunday:

(Note that Ryan's tracker is hiding behind Wade's)

And here's a snap for places 11 (Jeff Deeter - resting just after the pass which I've ringed in red) through 19 (Ryne, hiding behind Paige):

Ramey Smyth rested at the foot of the Gorge before tackling it. Both he and Jessie Royer are making great speed on the approach to the climb to the Pass.

I have my fingers crossed for Lev to sneak past Jessie Holmes - this will be Lev's best placing in this race and if he keeps it up, he must be so happy with his team.

And then here's the "middle and back" of the pack:

Back-of-the-pack_03-14-21.JPG

  • Dan Kaduce is resting on trail.
  • Cody is at the Bear Creek safety cabin just off the trail.
  • Then we have a marching Chad, with two Berington's behind him. Kristy is going fast right now, so may pass... or not.
  • In Nik, we have a resting Martin, Joanna Jagow (who we've heard/seen NOTHING of the entire race), Joshua McNeal, and Travis who's taking an impromptu 24+ rest there (no sign of him scratching, so wondering if he'll just rest and rest and then move on once the dogs' attitudes have picked up?).
  • On trail headed to Nik is Matt Hall - he had sick dogs early on, so slowed way down - and Susannah (who's interviews I've thoroughly enjoyed - she is a bright spark).
  • And then resting in McG, the back of the pack - Sean, Dennis, Jeremy, Hal, Victoria, and Will.

Michelle just reached Wade/Ryan and is stopped. Looking at her tracker - she's on the end of a huge 10 hour run, so I'd expect her to camp there for at least 4 hours.

Mille Porsild just reached Finger Lake! Her team looked happy trotting in. She grabbed some straw and supplies so likely will be stopping soon on the trail to rest, before making the final push to Skwentna.

Just seen that too Fool. Been following her throughout and hoping she finishes in top 10. We'll see. The race isn't over yet!

I think it is long since we have had such a close race? We have had races in the race, but usually, between a couple of teams.
