And add Dan Kaduce to Paige - he's also resting closer to Ruby.

* * *

And the plot thickens.

Dallas is camped out about 15 miles before Galena. He's currently doing 7-hour runs, and is at that now, so I don't expect him to continue into Galena. That would mean he's planning to divide up this next section into two runs and could take his 8 in either Nulato or Kaltag.

Brent, OTOH, looks to be doing this next leg in one long run - which is typical of his way of travelling - he's done this during the YQ on many occasions.

Two things could happen - Brent could take speed out of his dogs by doing that long run and gradually slow for the rest of the race. And Dallas being more conservative, may take longer to get to Kaltag, but keeps his speed and is able to catch Brent on the coast (don't forget, Dallas says his dogs are now eating voraciously).

Or Brent could keep his speed despite the long run, and Dallas could end up a rests' time (4-5-6 hours?) + the 3 hours he was already behind.

* * *

Musing - if mushers have cell coverage, do they watch Insider videos to glean info about their opponents teams? It has to be very monotonous on the river, with very little terrain change. :)

Either Julie Ahnen is having issues or her tracker is malfunctioning. Looks like she 24ed in McGrath, headed out this morning at 2:59 am AKST, got out a mile or two and turned back. Everyone else is out of McGrath now.

Jeff King's run Ophir to Cripple was one of the fastest at just over 10 hours. The more you rest the faster you go . . . really chuckled to hear him talk about the competitive spirit still within him, much to his surprise. Glad to hear him say the dogs have got to know him now and have decided that he's okay :D

And Jeff and Martin arrived Ophir just minutes apart - can't remember how to find the previous logs so can't check. I wondered if they'd had a race between them on that stretch. The races within the races are always so interesting!

Cripple to Ruby - fastest time - on the current standings showing now (can't access earlier ones) shows Jeff King at 9 hrs 27 minutes and second fastest is Mille P at 10 hours 8 minutes. Fascinating.

Mille P in Galena one minute before Mitch Seavey. They were neck and neck for a while and I wondered if she might get ahead. Clearly she did.

Mile 554 - Mitch Seavey and Mille P. Wonder if she will pass him again?

Dallas sure is in a hurry to catch Brent - he blew through Kaltag so fast that he actually left a minute before he arrived!
