White Mountain-Safety-Nome

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Just got a video of Brent coming across the finish. Wagging tails (dogs anyway - Brent looks overwhelmed).

Yeah I kinda expected him to be very emotional and super animated but he looked like he was in a bit of shock, can't say I blame him after that last run & all mother nature threw at him!

Dallas at the finish:

Talking to his lead dog: "You're a monster, you know that...?"

Heister: Who've you got here?

"This is Prophet, one of Reef's boys [Reef = Golden Harness Winner] and probably just as good. Amazing little creature."

There's a girl in pink hugging him and it just occurred to me this is probably Dallas' daughter? (who in my mind is still 3 yrs old). I still think of Dallas as being in his early 20s, but in reality he's *35*!?

I was hoping that Dan Kaduce’s excellent dog care would pay off and give him a 3 rd place finish, but alas it looks like Jessie kept his 15 min lead to the end. Jessie is two miles from Nome, Dan two miles behind him.

Dan is the only musher still with all 14 dogs.

Behind them, Pete has overtaken Richie and they are through Safety and getting ready to go over Cspe Nome.

I’m sitting on a plane in Seattle, about to take off for England, checking results in AK and relaying them to this community. Technology is a wonderful thing. :)
