This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

I wondered the same thing about those white wind suits. Almost wondering if it’s the type of material they’re made out of, because they’re always white/filthy
(I watched Matt Hall(?) in Koyuk in his “white” suit.

I watcher KarinH come in and was a little bummed I didn't see her go down the line and thank her dogs or snack them. They were very interested in Matt P who was giving his a treat.

Any news about the teams trying to get to WM and the ones stuck between WM and Safety?

Davis and Reitan looking good heading for WM, Davis is off the ice in Golovin Bay, Honda and Kelly is in the hills,.way off the trail. I seem to remember it has happened before, but perhaps that was the year they rerouted up in the hills.

Check Toni Reitter's FB for words about Gerhardt Thiart. Not good news. Evidently has broken bones.

Now Gerhardt's on the move at 279mph.
I know people want to believe these are just glitches, and I'll be happily wrong, but this is typical indication when someone is being flown off the trail.
Heartbreaking. I pray he's going to be OK. This has been a dream for them, now sounds like a nightmare. I have been following Natalie Andre and they have been so very excited. Absolutely gutted for them.

Good to know they have got him out.
Just watched Davis arrive in WM, missed the heli-action, but I really don't miss that. Rewinded the tracker, Honda and Kelly must have followed wrong trail from Golovin, perhaps another snowmobile track? They are on trail until Golovin but then go off. They have turned and are soonish back on the ice.
