Banquet

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Free is nice. What about Insiders and those who don't use face book?

It's a public page. You don't have to be a registered FB person to see it.
https://www.facebook.com/TheIditarod/

But you can see it on the website. This is from the ITC newsletter:
Watch along as we congratulate the finishing teams, listen to the Mushers reflect and share stories from the trail and accept special awards given by our amazing Race Sponsors as well as the Iditarod Trail Committee. This is an event you don't want to miss and we will be airing it live for free on the website!

It will be on the live page: https://iditarod.com/live/

Wasn't so long ago we had John and the BSSD kids cobbling together a live static-ey audio and were excited! Occasionally the ITC does pay attention. :D :D :D

Those days were fun. We didn't hear a lot of the action, but the 'parties' and the food shared was a good time.

In case you didn't know at least a couple of those years I spent the time getting rid of spammers. It was a constant battle, took all my time banning the baddies, did not get to hear any of those banquets. I don't know what John and mira have done to protect us but it is a lot better now.

mira deserves an award for the baddies she intercepts before we in the USA are even awake.

It is good planning by ITC to make the banquet free and open to all.

Free and open to all - assuming the power comes back on. All of Nome lost power about 2 hrs ago. Sorry, no idea of why (just getting reports from colleagues up there). But they've got 8-10 hr to get it back on before the banquet.

Yeah, well, it happens a few times a year here, too. Always when most inconvenient and most expensive for the home-owner whose water supply freezes.
