Make it a full day and night of sled dog race live-streaming. Saturday 3/4 Catch the Can-AM triple crown races beginning at 8am Eastern time and then the ceremonial Iditarod start beginning at 10am Anchorage time.

LOL If it doesn't stop SNOWING in March, we won't have any choice BUT to stay home and keep up with Iditarod !

Honestly, that's a lot of hyperbole, because we've had a relatively benign winter, but March is going to come in like a dragon. Talking to hubby a few days ago and I said ( out loud, jinxed us ) that I fondly remembered being online with the 'Buds as hip deep in blizzard conditions as the mushers a continent away.

I don't believe Ft. Kent is going to get as much snow from this system as Moose or I will, but this is not the end of snow for JUST THIS WEEK.

Gorgeous day today. Mt. Washington is standing tall in all her sparkling glory against a deep blue sky--confirmation that "weather" is expected. And sure enough, 8 to 14 inches are predicted for the overnight and into tomorrow.

The town's selectmen/women are meeting in an emergency session this morning to determine whether to reschedule tomorrow's special town meeting. Not rescheduling will leave many town residents unable to appear and vote on new town ordinances that will address the blasted blasting rock quarry set to land in the middle of our village district...and cause at least one town resident to miss one of her favorite sled dog races. RESCHEDULE THE THING, PLEASE!

So, yes, assuming the special town meeting will be rescheduled and barring a storm related power outage, I will definitely be online following the Can-Am Triple Crown livestream in the morning and Iditarod in the afternoon! LET THE RACES BEGIN!!

Sally Manikian, of Shelburne NH came in second in the Can-Am 100. Sally was the defending champ from 2020,2021, and 2022

Florence Shaw, 17, of Quebec Canada won the 2023 race in 9 hr 07 min. Florence is a heavy equipment operator.

Sally's loss is a surprise. But then, second place is hardly a loss. Congratulations to Florence.

Surprise loss ? Martin Massicott was bested this year by a 39 YO woman from Quebec. Martin is a 10 time 250 winner.

Was the year for the ladies in Fort Kent !

Katherine Langlais is the first woman to win the 250 race in the 30 year history of the Can-Am Crown!
But that’s not all! With this victory, 3 women have won all three race lengths in the 2023 Can-Am!
