I want to express my thanks early in this race to those who are posting their analyses. If you don't know by now, my husband is legally blind, and I need to include him in " what's happening" rather than just check out for 10 days and not talk to him at all. Tailoring the information to his macro picture keeps life happy, so that's what I do. He keys in on geography and standings, not so much on strategy.

There's a veritable 14 sled convoy of teams moving up the trail from Rohn to Nikolai. Oh, to be an eye in the sky to see.

That would have been so much fun!

Jessie Holmes and Brent Sass is on their way to McGrath. 30-ish miles to go and 15 miles past Nikolai. No one else has left Nikolai. Keefe and Hall is soon arriving in Nikolai.

So Jessie Holmes is resting with 40 miles to Takotna, 20 to McGrath. Sass is nine miles behind. I expect them to blew through McGrath for sure, but go to Takotna, 24 there and then divide the cross to Anvik in three legs (Aliy used to do that). Or heading for 24 in Iditarod? Ophir is also quiet, I would think that at least Brent will prefer Ophir or Iditarod over the more busy places. But weather condition also plays a role..

Agreed - Brent will not 24 at Tak. Too noisy.

Anyone know what the weather is supposed to do the next couple of days?

If Brent goes all the way to Iditarod, it'll depend a lot on if he's trail-breaking or not. I seem to think Aliy (?) lost the race last time they used the Southern route by having to trail break and being about 3 hours slower than everyone behind because the trail set up for them. I remember being bummed that the move didn't pay off.
