Hm.. that's a bit weird with the snow machines. I would assume the iditarod insider crew would try to not mess up the trail. I think his speed has gone up a bit lately, but it's hard to tell.

Wade is closing in on Iditarod, Nicolas Petit, Richie Diehl and Ryan Redington have all passed Ophir.

Nicolas is three miles ahead of Richie and Ryan. Ritchie and Ryan both rested 24 hours in Takotna. Nicolas must have rested 4 hours on trail between McGrath and Takotna (based on running time, haven't rewinded). But Nicolas is known for going long... so right now Nicolas is in the lead, but I wouldn't be surprised if he is passed.

Jessie Holmes and Brent Sass are able to leave Ophir at 00:47 and 01:00. rewinding the GPS shows that Diehl/Redington left Ophir aroud 00:10-00:15. So they are 30-45 minutes in front of Jessie and Brent. Peter Kaiser and Kelly Maixner is 6 miles before Ophir. So Brent and Jessie will leave Ophir before they arrives, but just with half and hour or so...

Ah.. almost. Look at the field,

Jessie left Ophir at 00:49, Peter Kaiser 00:53, Kelly Maixner 00:57 and Brent Sass 01:00.

Matthew Failor has also just passed Ophir.

I think it might look like Diehl/Redington are gaining on Nicolas. But it's hard to tell for sure

All on Ophir to Iditarod section have done their 24. Wade is, I guess, doing his 24 at Iditarod.

Elsietee thank you for keeping us up to date and doing the maths during the European night.

Mira thanks for picking this up in our day time. Back to work in a moment so checking in on the reports really helps.

I'm soon off for the activities of the evening.

Kaiser, Diehl and Redington stopped on the same spot. Diel first, at 04:25, Redington ~5:00 and Sass some minutes after that (but the GPS is kind of glitching so a bit hard to see), at mile 385.

So, right now, Jessie Holmes and Brent Sass is the locomotives of this train. Burke and Failor has also passed Petit, I expect Petit to rest for at least one more hour.

Iditarod is at mile 432, so they still have some miles to cover :)

My pleasure - although I'm not sure how accurate they were. They all seemed to be off by a couple of minutes, so something was wonky with my maths. But at least they gave a rough idea.

I'm doing dull training today in front of the computer, so having to resist the temptation to be distracted by the race every five minutes, but will keep an eye out for anything interesting.

Lucky it is while they are in this phase, it usually doesn't happen that much

Jessie is resting, Sass has 17 miles or so to Iditarod, Jessie 24 and Redington and bunch 30+

Sass has arrived Iditarod. Wade is halfway through his rest (⁰1:24 am), that's almost 13 hours. Speaking of 13, Diehl and Holmes has 13 miles to go to Iditarod
