General chat

Just a topic for some general chit-chat.

As usual, Finnmarksløpet is running now, the winner will get to Alta (finish line) during tihs day. Looked at their standing site, I must say I really like their graphical showing of when mushers are finished with their mandatory rest.

FL have mandatory rest, a bit like Iditarod/White Mountain, but there's a rule about dividing the rest between two checkpoints. They must have 2 hours rest at Karasjon (I think for vet check) and in all 10 hours divided between Levajok and Karasjok (Levajok is the cp prior to Karasjok). Karasjok is quite similar to WM.. racewise. So, they have, in the checkpoint stat graphic showing how much of the rest the mushers have done and also at which time they can leave. No thinking left for the coach-musher

That's an interesting way to divide up the rest in the checkpoints. Is anyone racing this year that we're familiar with?

Hanna Lyrek scratched FL1200, she was ROTY Iditarod 2022.

Old-timers might remember Bjørnar Andersen? Nephew to Robert Sørlie. Bjørnars last Iditarod ended with a crash on the burns and scratch in Nikolai (peeing blood...).

Anyhow, he placed second in the short version, FL600. In the long version, 1200, it's soon finish. 14 out of 28 teams have scratched.. the weather was a bit too warm in the start, might be a reason.

Tove Sørensen also participated in Iditarod once I think.

Thomas Wærner replaced his knee last autumn, so he is not racing.
