This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Looks like there will be a new record for most finishers this year. The previous high was 77, and at least 79 should make it this year. They like to brag that more people have climbed Mt Everest than have completed the Iditarod, but methinks the mushers did some catching up this year.

Two ways to look at that number.....if the total number of individuals, it only increases by the number of rookies that finish. If it is the total number of people who have crossed the finish line (and many have done it for 20 plus years) it is a different number. But either way it is still fewer people than have summitted Everest.
