AAS Literary Challenge

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

For safety sake, the first chance I get, I’m going to light a candle and kindle the cook stove. Old Solomon just rang up on the telephone to say he’s bringing up his catch from the Fish River. For some unknown reason, Sol kinda sees my kitchen as his safe haven. I’ve never encouraged it, but then again I’ve never discouraged it either. He brings a bit of news in from the timber camps and lots of good gossip as to the goings and comings at the Fort Davis village council. The latest has to do with a gold run out near the Hastings place. I don’t believe it for a minute, but in exchange for the gossip and fresh salmon steaks, I’m more than happy to trade a plate of Boston Baker’s beans hot enough to knock his topkok off, if you nome what I mean. ;)

Good job, Moose! Where did that Fish River come from? Did I forget to check in at one of the checkpoints? Do i hafta' run it all over again?! Or did you stop off-trail somewhere for brownies?

Thanks, Heidi. I thought it would be fun.

I was wondering about Fish River too. I didn't get all of them in mine anyway.

Fish River (121 miles) Check point in 1916 only.
From the AAS history page. It was only used in 1916. There was another CP, Baker, which was used, but, one year, as well. Wow so many commas I must be eddycated
