The Final Four

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

The Final Four

... still out on the trail and snow and wind to bring them in. Rooting for those brave souls and their human companions. Go Connor! Go Cari! Go Kirsten and Darling! On Comet and Cupid ... oh, wrong poem ;)

Hearty, intrepid souls with stories to tell. Sure wish there was a central site where all the untold tails could be collected and perused.

Heavy sighs here , too, Moose.
Glad that is over and don't want to do it again.

<mod hat>> ...I hear you, so, what you are asking for is us to not forget the "back of the pack" in our "Ask the Musher" feature, right? </mod hat>

Great Idea Moose...I really have enjoyed Karen and Rick so far...can't wait to get them in chat some night.

I emailed "Dr Phil" and just received a reply about Jeff Darling. Jeff is fine, has a support team with him and a satellite phone and is having a good time. He is expected to claim the Red Lantern tomorrow (Tuesday) night or Wednesday morning.

Does anyone have news about Jeff Darling?
What I 'read' on the standings form is, he's on his way to Boston?? Is that right ?
Is Jeff still expected in to Nome tonight ?

As of 5:00 pm AT, Jeff Darling is stopped in between Timber and Topkok. He and his dogs are doing well and he has been in touch with his wife by sat phone. He's hoping to get back on the trail tonight, but trail conditions aren't very good so that remains to be seen. But he's doing fine and is not in harm's way or anything.

I also learned that we can be expecting podcasts of the banquet. Yay!!! It won't be live, but I'll take it. :D
