This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

just heard on radio Ken Anderson lost 3 hours when he lost a dog between Selawik and Ambler. But announcer said he was starting to make up some time.

Is the dog back in the team or in the sled?

Looks like Baker has opened up a lead...but don't know how much rest he's logged.
Kiana In
Baker 10:25 PM 10 dogs
Jayne & Buser 11:20 PM 10 dogs
Go team Buser!!!, but I'd be happy for John if he wins too.

Aaargh! I tried to access the webpage, but I get a page that says "This page is temporarily unavailable. The data transfer has been exceeded due to high traffic." I guess there are more fans than they realized. Does anyone have any updates? I don't really have time to go to chat, because I've got to get ready for church.

I was thinking that I'd like to see a list of races in the Lower 48. I might actually have a chance of attending one of those. I've become more interested in them since I'm reading Rachael Scdoris's book, and she describes many of them. Hey -- I could even volunteer and maybe bid to be a rider. Are there any races in the Lower 48 where any of the Iditarod mushers compete?

I was listening to Kotz Live Stream Radio and they said Baker left Noorvik at 5:46, Jayne at 6:30 & Martin at 7:16.
Go team Buser!!! If Baker wins, that's cool too.

Wow Baker is really having a good run, good for him he is a great guy and solid musher!
Still gotta cheer for Martin and Jayne too!
Wish they had more/better coverage of this exciting race! Maybe next year?
