Kobuk 440

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

The page is uploading for me now, so at least I can follow what's there. I agree, it would be great to have better coverage for such an exciting race. I'm glad to see Baker doing so well.

BBB, I hate to be superstitious but you're splitting the mojo....I think Johnny Baker's a very nice fella, don't get me wrong (I do think he's a sweetie, honest!), but a win for Baker (or Jayne, or good ol' Hugh Neff, etc) would cause the second time this year I'd have to scale back or just plain cancel the celebratory after-race-party out here in Michigan...my Iditabuddies here may very well decide that I'm just no good at picking winners anymore if that happened. :(

Any news on how close things are timewise for the front of the pack, rugger? Five mins? Ten? Fifty?

We expect to see the winner to be in between two and three. should be a fast hard trail after the snowmachine race yesterday, and the cool weather and really chilly wind from the NE.

Ken, Hugh, and Sebastion should have checked into Noorvik by now and probably out. I look for Ken to push Buser for third; just a guess though.

Just called KOTZ and they will be airing another update in about 10mins.
I'll listen and report back

Just read on another site that Baker has finished, with ten dogs. Great race!

Yay, John Baker! I've always liked him too. Looks like Jayne and Buser will be second and third.

Thanks for the updates rugger and moose. :)
