RACHAEL and ITC

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

RACHAEL and ITC

Postby boo » Fri Jun 06, 2008 6:59 pm

Finally, at long last....the ITC decided to allow Rach and her VI (visual interpreter, ie. person she runs with, who has their own team....they just travel together) to take the last two positions in their group. So if she goes up for the picnic, they'll be the last two positions in the first group, if she mails it in...blah, blah....you all know what this means. IT MEANS SHE WON'T HAVE TO GO OUT LAST!!!! I'm so excited for her!!!! She and Timmy had such a good run when mushers were allowed to pick their start number and they went out together in the middle of the pack. Emotionally, I probably got WAY too worked up, but it just felt so wrong and punitive and ignorant and ......here I go.....breathe....breathe.....anyway, Stan and the board considered her reasonable and persistent request and made the ruling. Oh yeah....also that they can still use two way radios.....but we all know that has never been successful....YELLING works better. :D

I'm really really happy for Rachael! Good for her.....being a pleasant, logical pest has its rewards!!! ;)

Good for Rachel! That's the way I prefer to do things, too. Just annoy them until they finally give in just to make me go away! Even though, I have to admit, I can have a bit of a red haired temper at times. Perhaps not as much as in my youth. :) ;)
Is planning/hoping to run with Tim in 2009?

Hmmm....just barely June....not sure about that. He's coming up on his one-year anniversary of breaking his leg to pieces. That will be a PAINFUL anniversary to recall.

Yes, it will be. How is he getting along? I know it is a stretch to next year, but you know, down here in the heat, er heart of Texas, we take any rumors we can get!

Yeah Rachael!!! Bout time the ITC had some sense and didn't 'disable' the able bodied mushers just because they are different than the norm!!

Great news. I thought the ITC were a bunch of airheads, seems I owe them an apology - at least in this case...
