how the iditarod began...

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

how the iditarod began...

found this great site on the web...
http://www.kats-korner.com/animals/iditarod.html

its got a brilliant account by brian o'donahue of the first ever race. loads of amazing stuff, quotes and comments from mushers there running it, esp like fat albert..now who does that remind me of...my mal x sibe mr wolfe haha. read and you'll see why.

you'll have to scroll down through all the bu ll sh ** that the usual suspects have posted... you know who! but the reports are fantastic, the sites old now and seems to have been written in 2002. but is still a fantastic read!!

enjoy

Good stuff Tangles. Thanks for posting them! Love the terrors of the trail one especially. It really is a wonder that nobody has ever died in the Iditarod, isn't it?
