Oh Brian another great work! Thanks so much, that song never fails to bring tears to my eyes, I love it and now I have some new words I can learn! 
Wish I could get a recording of Martin whistling/singing! That is what I wrote on the sign the kids are making, would be cool if he sees it!

Right!
After Bjørnar scratched I was feeling really blue and needed something to take my mind elsewhere. It resulted in poem, then a song. It was based on Lisa Simpson's excellent Union Strike Protest Song from the episode when Homer became union leader. You might recognize some of the text on the chorus. Right, so I recorded it using Lisa's melody (not sure if this is an old melody someone have the copyright to, but since I'm only using this for non-profit I hope it is ok...). My sister, Bibi, helped me with backing vocals, and also arranged it and did the recording. The attachment to this post is a music file, in the mp3 format.
So, presenting:
The Rookie Run - Text: Eskil, Music: Lisa Simpson?
Come gather young huskies
it's high time you learn
'bout a placed called the Dazell Gorge
and the Farewell Burn.
I've raised you as sled dogs
I hope I didn't fail
'cause we're going to run
the Iditarod Trail.
Chorus:
And we'll march day and night,
gonna need all your power.
Alaska can be brutal
in the wee morning hour.
Now tell me young leader,
are you're mind set on home?
Please erase that good memory,
we're going to Nome.
The trail may seem endless,
so I'll sing you this song.
To keep you remembering:
it's a thousand miles long.
Chorus
The winds will keep howling.
The trail can be slow.
25 below zero.
Yukon River overflow.
The coast wears you down,
it's a long gruelling test.
Just remember in White Mountain

Then at last it is over,
the nine days in March.
