Links and Info sources for reference

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Apologies to Heidi TX, she maintained all this for us at Cabela's and I'm totally ganking the post shamelessly before it is lost on the wind, part of "decorating the new homestead." I hope the links work! ( they seem to have translated seamlessly. )

Please don't be angry Heidi, though if you are peeved, I will certainly grovel on the straw. Now that this is HERE, it will be available for editing as needed.

heidi's thread for 2007 links, info and resources:

If you have a link to a good Iditarod website, webcam, blog or whatever, please post it in this thread (even if you've already posted it elsewhere). I will periodically add them to this list so that they're all in one place and easily accessible. As for mushers' websites, I'm only adding those that are providing updated posts during the race. I've listed all the webcams together at the end of this post.

It's all good Breeze!

I'm not sure all of those links are still good though. Regardless, I'm glad you moved the post over here. :)

Hello,

The Wayback Machine, a non-profit group, has indexed the Cabela's Iditarod content numerous times a month since 2000.

Internet Archive Wayback Machine - This script will pull the entire archive record for Cabela's in chronological order.
http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://cabelasiditarod.com

Almost all of the major feature articles by Jon Little are there, as well as many other content elements like snapshots of the standings on certain dates and times. And, these reports and articles will be there for a permanent reference. That is the proverbial Good News.

Image

The Bad News is that the archive does not include much of the Talk Forum content. I don't know why.

Maybe Cabela's could ask the Internet Archive to...well....archive the forums if they wanted to rid themselves of the server maintenance and so on. At least then the data would be accessible for future race fans, and nobody would be making money off of it.

Just a passing thought.

Regards,

Johncn
