Ed Stielstra led 15 finishers in Michigan's U.P. 200 sled dog race, crossing the line eleven minutes and 25 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.

Marquette's The Mining Journal posted a story on Ed's win: http://www.miningjournal.net/page/content.detail/id/505760.html?nav=5006.

Checkout Ed Stielstra's dog profile http://iditarodblogs.com/news/2008/02/1 ... e-starman/.
I love Ed's comment. "He is not necessarily the sharpest knife in the drawer but hey, neither is anybody who wants to run the Iditarod.”

Stielstra to run 4th Iditarod with best team yet http://www.ludingtondailynews.com/news.php?story_id=39173

Personally, I'm interested to see where Ed winds up. He ran tours on a glacier this summer, so I have to think that his training is much better than in years past.

I think that Ed should be able to break the Top 30 this year.

I must say that I am surprised that Jon Little would pick Ed for a possible top 5 finish. I can see him breaking the top 30 and maybe even the top 20, but I am really skeptical about him finishing in the top ten.

It goes against Ed's history, but his work on the glacier over the summer should give him a better time than in previous years. Top 5 is very optimistic, however.

If my calculations are correct, it Ed arrived at Rohn 32 hours after he left Willow. Ed is running 12 hours faster than he did in 2006.
