She's definitely one of the few mushers I'm rooting for this year. I got to experience and learn so much about mushing over the past 12 months thanks to her.

Did you handle for her Ravenne? I love her upbeat, kick butt attitude, such a strong woman!

Oh how I wish! That's on the top of my list for as soon as I win the Powerball. :D
What I learned about mushing I learned through her Aliy cam and all the awesome footage she captured in last year's Iditarod. Basically I got to watch her take on the Happy Steps in PJs :P

Rav I agree the SP Kennel Blogspot has taught me tons over the last few years.
Also partial to them as they let Dr. Mike do a lot of research with their dogs!!

Looking good, Tx! I am so impressed by Aliy as well, for all of the reasons you all have mentioned. With Jessica out this year, I have explored and learned more about Aliy - very impressive. :D

I worked the UNK checkpoint a couple-3 times when Ally was starting to make waves as a musher in the Iditarod community. The things about UNK as a checkpoint that sets it apart from most others are a number of factors: distance ratio (completed to whats left), at the coast where dynamics of the race change for multiple reasons, the media circus aspect, etc.

In most years, the race really defines itself in UNK. Mushers are either positioning to win, to place or simply to be "happy campers out for a stroll". Aliy impressed me as a winner back then because of her attitude, her dog care, and her energy. She wasn't a front-running leader in those years yet Aliy was showing herself a musher to watch--as a leader on the trail. It thrills me to see her running such a smart race. Lot's of trail left to go and the coast can have significant impacts on any race, yet Aliy has what it takes to win.
