Has anyone bought the 2008 Buser Booster Club T-Shirt? I'm thinking of buying the long sleeved shirt. What is it like? What does it say on it? And does it have the dog paws on the sleeve? Also, I'm wondering how the sizing is. Would a medium be more of a men's medium or a women's medium? I wear about a size 14 womens, which would be about a medium in men's and a large in women's. Just wondering which I should order. It's still a toss-up between that and the Iditarod 2009 shirt from the website -- or I may get both. : ) I have some birthday money to spend.

BB Backer, I couldn't agree more. He sure does clean up nice. Interesting how he bonded with "borrowed" dogs. What a rapport he has with dogs. Amazing. I wish I could have seen the presentation.

This will be a very busy year of racing. We do have more racing dogs than usual this year as a result of Rohn and Sue Allen's participation in the 2008 Iditarod. We do plan reports from along the trail on each race.

There was no purse and just three dog teams, but the inaugural and possibly only ulcer research challenge came off without any major hitch. Mushers and veterinarians seemed pleased. Last weekend I participated in something we all simply called the “Challenge,” which was a 300-mile training run designed to test the efficacy of two leading anti-acid medications each shown to reduce stress-related ulcers in sled dogs.

After the runs, the vets anesthetized the dogs and snaked a small camera down the dogs' throats for live video of the canine stomachs to see the effects of the two different medications. I know Snickers & Karen & all those who donated , as well as all future racing dogs, appreciate their participation in the research project.

As for Buser hospitality, Jon had this to say.

One other thing to note: The checkpoint hospitality in this “race” was unbelievable. I’ve never felt such a welcome in a “checkpoint.” That is, in the Buser household. They let the vets and myself run rampant through their house, and especially their kitchen. Martin’s wife, Kathy, always had amazing food and desserts ready.
