Hi folks,
I'm the federal coordinator for the Iditarod National Historic Trail (one of only 18 National Historic Trails around the country) and I've attached a report on what we've been doing in BLM to make the Trail and it's history more accessible, sustainable and enjoyable. Unfortunately I don't have lots of time to pay attention to this blog that John C. so graciously set me up on (yea, how 'bout a big hand for all the great work everyone in Unalakleet is doing!!)
So if you've got any questions, it might be best to contact me at kkeeler@blm.gov. The official Iditarod National Historic Trail website can be found via http://www.blm.gov/ak, then scroll to the bottom and hit the historic Iditarod logo.
BTW, while BLM does coordinate, we don't manage the entire trail--that's up to each agency/landowner...a trailwide non-profit group, Iditarod Historic Trail Alliance, does a lot of advocacy work for the trail, and you can learn more about them at http://www.iditarodnationalhistorictrail.org
Ciao for now!
