Yukon Quest, discussion

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Tim is still at the same spot as Paige. YQ said that Paige wanted to wait for daylight, so Tim is waiting with her?

I can't wait to get those teams into Braeburn

And, Allen still with 14 dogs ...that's great to see ...especially and after such a grueling race.

Yes.. that's really an achievement. Vebjørn had 13 into Braeburn, Ed 12. Matt had 11 leaving Braeburn, Laura is down to 8.

In general I think this it is really impressive with so many big teams, of the top five teams, it was only 11 dogs who where dropped before Braeburn (since Vebjørn and Ed hasn't left yet I use this to count). That's 15%.. I guess this means that a) the mushers are excellent of taking care of the dogs (of course.. we know that) and b) the trail condition has been kind to the dogs. Looks like the general conditions has been better for the dogs than the mushers..

Glad Paige seems to be ok. Allen shows 6 miles out. I have PT in an hour and a half, will he make it in before I have to leave? 8-)

I guess that depends on how long time upfront you need to leave. I was hoping he was at the finish now, I'm making dinner and the rest are in their way home..
