There was an offshore wind a few weeks ago and it blew the sea ice out to sea. So the Norton Sound trail is inland - maybe an hour - 5 miles - longer than normal.

Joar leaving Unk (after 1:45 rest):
I'm feeling good. The dogs are feeling good.
Q: Did you get something to eat? How 'bout those sourdough pancakes?
J: Awesome. I've been trying to make them at home, but haven't quite got them good. Can you bring me a starter [for them].
Q: I'll get them to mail you some...
J: My own sourdough starter...
Q: did you get anyone to step up in lead yet?
J: Yeah, these guys. This is Ollie (?) who was on rookie of the year team last year <kisses dog on nose> ...
[He mentioned this dog back in ID - he bought the dog from Sebastien Vergnaud from France. He's super licky and waggy and affectionate ... and LOUD, if the leaving-ID-video is anything to go by]
...and this is my boy Russian.
<he's baby talking the dogs the whole time he's getting them ready>
<dogs are wagging to leave, tails up and trotting/loping cheerily>

Mitch leaving Unk (after 3:20 rest):
Complete silence.
"Allright"
Dogs leave, with a bit of "Gee gee" as they get off route.
