This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

So why actually happened? As Joar just going slower? Or has he just opted to take more rest to ”rejuvenate” the team?

Peter has passed and is going at around 7 mph, Joar is going a bit slower but not much. Nicolas is currently moving, but he seems to be walking, doing his speed differs between 0.2 up to 1. Perhaps he is trying to get off the ice onto that little spit where he can rest a bit more, waiting for daylight?

I wondered about the same, but I guess there is ice in the bay, so they cut north-east to the shore and then follow the shore until Koyuk.
