Scratches

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Dang. I was sad to see the three new scratches. Hope all--musher and dogs--are well. How fortunate for them that Kale was on the scene. Looking forward to his report.

It looked so good so long, but I guess the tough conditions is starting to take its toll.

It also looks to me that the back of the pack is traveling quite fast, I remember years ago that mushers haven't reached Yukon when the winner reached Nome. Currently, the last three mushers are in Eagle Island and will most likely be at least in Kaltag before the front gets to the burled arch.

According to ITC the quickest red lantern is Cindy Abbott in 2017. She used 12 days, 2 hours, 57 minutes and 31 seconds "..a faster red lantern time than the first 19 winning times."

2017 was a very fast year.
