This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

LOL Moose and I still make a pot of coffee and nuke leftovers the next day. Sometimes even third day.

I'm not judging, Fdf. But my coffee has to be "fresh" with an inviting "Whooosh" as it pours itself into my cup.
And if you want to talk spiders, let me tell you about the one spying on me from the ceiling yesterday! Eeeek! Big and Ugh-ly! Bullwinkle always captured them and moved them to the outside. I'm not so kind.
Wag more, bark less.

It would seem that the spider crew decided to get back at us, and have rented the BB&G out to the good folks of Shaktoolik as a warming cabin for Mushers as well as a bag-and-straw-stop. Just be aware that there might be a new face or two (or 6) in the place tonight and through the rest of the race. The tenants have provided extra firewood, so don't spare the warmth.
I've left a ginormous pot of corned-beef-and -veggies on the woodstove and several loaves of bread.

Delicious. I just stopped by to drop off some cobbler DH whipped up. Last season's peaches from the freezer, but he cooked them up with a little sugar and brandy, so it tastes just dandy!

Spaghetti bolognase and a tonne of cheesy garlic bread. have left some fresh blueberries and ice cream in the fridge and there is some good old british crumpets to go in the toaster with some butter to put on top.
