This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Dan Kaduce just absolutely CRUSHED the run from Skwentna - 7 hours and 40 minutes, passing Lev Shvarts along the way. No one else has even broke 8 hours yet!

Lev Shvarts just finished and was awarded the Mat-Su "Best Musher" award from the mayor of Nome - a fun looking golden key. I don't know that I've heard of this award before - does it go to the top finisher from that region?

And Paige Drobny and Ryne Olson are currently neck and neck battling to the finish. Those two are good friends, so I bet they're having fun duking it out!

Paige Drobny and Ryne Olson run a lot of expedition trips together and are good friends. Paige recounted a funny story of how when their alarms went off this morning, Paige was like, "Maybe we should just sleep in a little more..." [acting like they were just on a normal expedition] and Ryne was adamant that they were going to race--that this was the Iditarod.
Both dog teams looked great coming in.

Cody Strathe just finished!
Announcer: "Was it the plan for you and Paige to finish back to back like this?"
Cody: "No, she was supposed to win. But maybe next year."

Unless I missed one, it looks like Chad Stoddard will be ROY. Sounds like maybe he is running Mackey dogs? Anyway, did NOT have him on my radar at all!!
