This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

Nice, it'll be cool to see how many he catches up with! How many hours are left of Kjetil, Jeff and Lance's 24+?

Just a couple of hours left, if my foxclocks application is correct.

I see it too. Could it have something to do with his bib?

Yes, of course!! Thank you! He has one hour advantage on Jeff and Lance now. How could I forget? I have notes and numbers spread out all over and I forgot THAT? Wow, this is really messing with my mind. By the way: GPS = Going Past Sanity!

Hehe, and he was in a hurry too! He`s not moving anymore. -anyway, do you know how they even out the bib difference? Do the ones with higher bib numbers leave BEFORE their 24 or do the ones with early numbers have to wait? Probably the latter, right? That would indicate that Kjetil is going to leave in 7 minutes. Thats what I had written down here and what I set my alarm clock by before I went to bed last night.

The time difference is added to the length, so almost all mushers stay for more than 24 hours

The musher with bib 96 leaves precisely after 24 hours. Each bib lower adds two mins. That means that Kjetil (with bib 42 can leave after 24hours + 53bibs times 2mins: 25 h and 46 mins. Correct me if I'm wrong. Lance kan leave after 24 hours + 89bibs times 2mins: 26 hrs 58 mins. Am I doing this right?
If so: Kjetil can leave at 04:13 alaska time. Lance at 04:55. Jeff King can leave after 26 hours and 48 mins, that is at 05:09.
Calcs might be all bs, but think I did it right.
