POT LUCK PARTY IN THE BREAKERS BAR AND GRILL

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

It’s not just the race itself, but my mom passed away and a couple other family members could be doing better. Hope you and Mr. FDF are doing well.

I’m always down for food and drinks so I’ll definitely hang out at the Breakers as much as I can! :D

Sorry about your Mom Heidi, that is not an easy loss.

Being old and clumsy I have been falling a lot the past few years. Sometimes I used a walker and sometimes not. Well now I always use it out side and a lot in the house too. The reason being early December I fell, thought I had pulled a tendon or something, but turned out it was my thigh bone cracking. It didn't break all the way through so the docs were able to fix it with 3 screws. Doesn't hurt now but I am having a time of it getting strength back. But better all the time.

Looking forward to following the race with all y'all. And munching on the goodies in our bar & grill.
All my children have four feet and fur.

Thanks for the condolences, fdf. :) Sorry to hear about your debilitating fall, but I’m glad to hear you’re continually getting better. If the walker keeps you stable, yet moving, that’s all that matters.

I dropped by Breakers and cleaned up the place a bit before everyone arrives. <holding nose> So who left the milk and some food in the fridge?? :?

Hey all! We are out on the trail this year (in sunny Florida, NOT AK! :? ) and the forum and the iditarod site don't run well on my phone, so I will be stopping by on occasions when I can get wifi on the laptop. One thing about Florida, they have great seafood! I left some cold boiled shrimp on ice in the fridge and there's a nice bottle of chardonnay to go with it! Enjoy! :D

AND...there might be a little surprise around the time of the banquet! Stay tuned! 8-)

fresh dougnuts, pastries and coffee on the stove, some frozen pizza in the freezer and the toilet is spider free and full of loo roll. The spiders are on vacation this year from the race visiting family apparently....

While it's possible the <shudder> spiders are on vacation, it's also possible that someone smudged the loo with sage and banned them from the premises until after the banquet. No idea who. Just saying it's possible.

Popped in to see what the spider situation was like - and hey presto! - all sorted.

Sage smudging . . . who knew?

I have a strange spider story to tell, but I'll save it for some dark night when we're all gathered around a campfire. Oh, but wait. If there's a campfire, there's a second strange spider story to share as well. :?
