Deshka Landing > Finger Lake

This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Hosting is provided by the Bering Strait School District (BSSD), and the area is open all year. Care to be one of our volunteer moderators? Contact us!

The checkers at Finger Lake are busy. Teams are arriving quickly, many within minutes of each other.

Nicolas Petit went from the start to Finger Lake essentially in all one long run! Not necessarily out of the ordinary for him, but it'll be interesting to see how long he rests in Finger Lake after doing an almost 13-hour run to start the race.

I saw the video of him coming in. Something about him kinda reminded me of Lance. :(

He was ( or acted ) surprised it was 110 mile, he probably felt like it was 70-80 with fast trail and perfect running temps. Go while the going is good if this storm will slow things down post alaska range anyway.

Rick Casillo at FL:
Hardest part was slowing them down - they wanted to run at 10-11 mph, even through the sugar snow, so I've been standing on my drag mat the whole way.

Chris Parker:
Someone handed me a turkey leg on the river, that was pretty darn good
