So.. this year they must take 8 hour rest Rohn to Rohn (that is the yukon river rest) and 24 hour somewhere outbound (including Iditarod).
The 8 hour rest could be taken on.. like half the trail. I wonder how this will affect the plans. Will someone for instance, take the 8 in Rohn so they can go all the way to Iditarod (it's usual someone who go that far anyway). Most mushers usually take the 24 in McGrath-Takotna-area (including Nikolai and Ophir) and I guess this will be true this year as well, but I'm hoping for someone to be a bit creative about this one
Takotna is usually very popular but is not an option this year, as it is not an official checkpoint.
