This is a forum for general discussion of dogsled racing, with a special focus on Alaska, and is open to all. It is expected that this area will see the most activity during the months leading up to, and during the annual Iditarod sled dog race. Pictures from races can be posted here. Rookie Iditarod musher Christopher Parker scratches at McGrath checkpoint
Anchorage, Alaska –– Rookie Iditarod musher Christopher Parker (bib #19) of Fairbanks, Alaska,
scratched at 1:45 p.m. today at the McGrath checkpoint.
Parker made the decision to scratch in the best interest of his race team.
Parker had eight dogs in harness at the time he made the decision to scratch.

I seem to think he was struggling back in Rohn and there was some discussion then as to if he'd continue, but he opted to keep going for a bit.

**IDITAROD UPDATE**
This morning at 930 Rick made the decision to scratch from the race.
I just got off the phone with Rick, ALL the dogs left are in perfect condition!
He and the dogs are in good spirits and we will update you more when Rick Casillo returns home, and we are able to communicate better.
Unfortunately there's limited communication but dont worry everyone is OK!!
