Happened to be checking the tracker just now and noticed that Joshua Robbins is no longer red lantern - Sean Williams has taken his place. Odd.
So I rewound the tracker. Sean stopped briefly just before he reached Golovin spit at 4:20 a.m. on Thursday... crossed over the spit and back on the ice by 500 ft a 4:36 a.m., stopped again for five minutes, and then turned around and returned to Golovin - where he's been since 4:50 a.m.
Ben Good passed at 8 a.m. (and did not stop).
At 10:48 a.m. after 6 hours, Sean started moving again, got out onto the ice again to about the same point, stopped at 11:01... appeared to maybe be walking with his team as they inched along for the next 20 minutes, when he stopped again, and returned (much more speedily) to his camp spot in Golovin at 11:54 a.m.
In the meantime, back in Elim, Severin Cathy left there are 10:16 a.m. went a couple of miles along the sea ice, before stalling at 10:54, and returning to Elim.
Behind him, Lauro Eklund left Elim at 10:33, got a little bit further down the trail (after passing the returning Cathry), but also turned around at 11:09 am. and went back to Elim.
Behind him, Jeff Reid left Elim at 10:52, passed by the troublesome area around 11:20 and kept going.
Cathry then left Elim again (right as Eklund showed up) at 11:40, with Lauro following him, and they set out along the sea ice again, this time in tandem and managed to pass through.
Assume some sort of ground blizzard?
Back in Golovin at 12:15 pm, Sean started moving (walking with his team? - the tracker was moving slowly, but not blinking green - staying orange for rest) across the spit to the north. At 2:15, the tracker suddenly turns green and he shoots to the SW and goes around in a circle until 2:50 pm when Jeff Reid passes and Sean follows him out. This time he gets out about a mile before the team stalls at 3 pm... Jeff keeps going. Sean manages to get them another half a mile or so, before they quit on him again. Eklund and Cathry pass him out on the ice at 4 pm (12 hours after he first stalled), but the team did not follow.
At 4:30, they whizzed back to their camp spot at Govolin, settling in at 5 pm.
At 7 pm, it looks like he tried to get them moving again, with no luck.
Josh passed him at 9 pm (and is just now pulling into WM at 12:21 am on Friday.
Sean W is still sitting in Golovin
Sean Underwood - operating the camera at WM said that they are sending out some snow machines to check on Sean Williams, but I fear it doesn't look good for him there. In theory, he can buy dog food from the people in Golovin, but he's got to persuade his team to move - and they don't seem interested.
Sean Underwood said it's only a little windy on Golovin Bay, but not bad, but they're supposed to pick up again tomorrow afternoon. It's dead calm in WM right now.
He's saying that the dogs get confused coming into the WM - they want to head up towards the buildings, since that's what they do in the other villages, but obv the "rest area" in WM is down on the river. You can hear Joshua down on the river saying "no, not that way" as his dogs are veering in the wrong direction.
