Those videos of him were awesome. His excitement and energy was just so raw or something. Very neat.

Here is a cross post from the Iditasupport group;
Libby Riddles met Wades Mom at the start. She had no available money
to go see her son come through the burled arch.....As a Mom, I know
that if my kid was out there, I sure as heck would want to see him
come through. Libby would like to raise $$$ to get Wade's Mom to
Nome. Libby has put in $100.00 and I have put in $50.00. She is
supplying a place for his Mom to stay in Nome. Can anyone out there
please help donate so Wade's Mom can get to Nome? This is a great
kid.....and he must have a great Mom if he won the humanitarian
award. (You learn that at home from your Mom).....We don't have a
paypal account but you can send $$. Quickly......

Never thought about logistics much for the raise money for Eileen, I'd
like to pitch in $100 & see if the rest can be raised. Let's let her
church come up with $200-250 and if I can raise the rest would be
awesome. I put in a message to Dan Seavey, they might chip in too.
Shouldn't take much I hope. She just had to get there, I thought. If
you could put a message on the support group thing, I guess if anyone
wanted to contribute, see me in Nome or send check to my po:

L Riddles PO Box 15253
Fritz Creek AK 99603

then if I could be notified by email, I can let you know asap if I can
raise $400 or so. Thanks for kicking in $50! Good cause for sure!
I'll make Sab pitch in when he gets to Nome! He'll be making a nice
check.....

Wade Marrs, 18, was born in Alaska and has lived in Knik, Alaska his
entire life. He began mushing nine years ago and ran the Jr. Iditarod
in 2007 and 2008, as well as other local races. He received the
Humanitarian Award in the 2008 Jr. Iditarod. Wade says, "I got most of
my dog team from the Redington family and learned most of what I know
form them. I grew up in Knik and ran dogs when I was a little kid and
since I can remember. I live with my mom and my brother. We have
always had dogs so I finally got myself involved and now my dream is
to make it to Nome. I work for Raymie Redington at the Iditarod
Headquarters doing sled dog tours and for Iditarod musher Mike Jayne
commercial fishing in Bristol Bay. I hope to learn lots from these two
people and their families. Wade says his hobbies are fishing, hunting,
trapping and snow machining.

Thanks ahead of time....Think of this as Let's get Wade's Mom to Nome before
Wade...... :)

Just thought maybe some of you could/would be able to help out! Thanks!

He ran the entire race in Carharts! He said its a good thing it wasn't to cold (? what does this guy consider cold lol) or it wouldn't have been so good. He's crazy, definitely a musher. He must have had some good layers under them.

My Mumma in England (who IMed me to ask me what the heck I was still doing up at that hour?) and I were the last of the BSSD streamers to watch Wade cross under the arch at 2 am AKT this morning.

Yay for Wade!

Wish I could have seen his II interview (and I wish I'd got more than four hours sleep ;-) ).

I knew I'd written about Wade way back when he was first starting, was always impressed by his humble, happy attitude! Pretty neat to see where he's at all these years later! Think about helping him out by buying something from his kennel store. I got this cool shirt, it has lots on it~love it
